Meet Our Board
President - Gigot Hudspeth
I'm a fifth generation Southern Colorado native; and I’ve been a fan of trail riding since I bought my first StumpJumper in 1983. The trails in Pueblo and surrounding vicinity are tremendous assets for our community. I'm passionate about exploring and promoting our outdoor resources.
I have been an active member of Southern Colorado Trail Builders for several years. During that time I have participated in trail work days, MTB 101 workshops, Trails Bash events, and helped organize the Trails and Ales fundraiser. Now I am enjoying supporting the organization even more - and learning a lot - as a member of this awesome board!
Vice President - Mike Mchenry
I moved to Colorado in 2013 seeking sunshine, great views, and open spaces. The outdoor recreation opportunities - particularly our trail systems and the amazing climate - drew me to the Pueblo area. I believe SCTB is making a significant difference in the community and the local economy by advocating for and maintaining our trails.
My educational background is in civil and geotechnical engineering and I love to play in the dirt. I have volunteer experience in trail construction and maintenance primarily with SCTB, but also with KYMBA in Kentucky and CAMBA in Cleveland, OH - my hometown. You can typically find my wife, Nicole, and I out on trails - often with our dog, Layla. I’ve been a member of SCTB for 10 years, and am a former president of the organization. I’m excited for my new role and looking forward to knocking out a lot of trail work in the upcoming year! See you at our next Second Sunday trail work day!
Membership/Development Chair - Nicole Cummings
I am a Colorado native and I have called Pueblo my home since 1998. An outdoor lifestyle and respect for nature was a value my parents instilled in me either by playing outside in the backyard or by backpacking in the Rawah Wilderness in Northern Colorado. These are values that my husband and I have passed on to our own family. The trails at Lake Pueblo and the surrounding area have been a long-standing location for family bike rides and hikes. I refer to myself as a mountain biker, but I have participated in the MS 150 road ride, gravel rides, and I seek out bicycle tours when I travel. I also enjoy hiking, tennis, and swimming. I hope we can offer more trails that are family friendly to help encourage our community to get out and enjoy the unique and beautiful areas surrounding Pueblo.
Treasurer - Robert “Murph” Murphy
I've been riding mountain bikes my entire life, and I can't think of a better way to get outside. I want to assure others are afforded that opportunity, and share the great trails with my young family. I believe access to public lands, the development and maintenance of quality trails and facilities, and a welcoming community of trail enthusiasts are critical for Pueblo's youth to have positive experiences that will develop into lifelong passions. I've worked as a raft guide, ski instructor, and bike mechanic, and served as an officer of the Outdoor Club while attending Colorado State University. I have been working professionally as a soil scientist for more than ten years on numerous land management, project development, and environmental protection issues with various state and federal agencies across most western states. Working toward the development of additional recreation opportunities regionally and practicing stewardship of existing local trails is where I intend to focus my efforts during my tenure as a board member.
Secretary - Maggie Reichel
I have had many wonderful rides laughing down Hooters Too and look forward to maintaining, improving and sharing the incredible trails at Lake Pueblo State Park and the surrounding areas. What a unique, incredible resource to have in our backyard!
I have a background in event planning and marketing, specifically in the natural foods and outdoor industries. Since getting plugged in with the Southern Colorado Trail Builders I have met the team that works diligently to support these trail systems and am excited to make a contribution to leave this special corner of the state better than I found it. Please say hi at the next community meeting or trail build day!
